Whenever I bring my practice paintings to the class and ask the teacher to look at them, he usually would be kind of displeased.  He said my paintings look like western paintings where I colored and filled out the entire paper.  Chinese painting is supposed to be simple, spontaneous, transparent in color and a bit of an abstract.  But I have never followed instruction anyway.  I would do whatever I like and get carried away.  I’d like to be able to paint freely without any constrain and limit.  Be it Chinese or Western painting so long that I can express myself on the paper.  But other times, I think I should learn more of what I originally came to this class for which was to learn the right way of painting the Chinese painting.  So back to basic.
