I can’t believe we still can find this kind of place in Singapore. The place is by the water and has been considered a jewel by many sketchers/artists. No idea if it is a river or a canal and the whole area is the industrial site. There are a few fishermen live in this run down place. A few steps further to the left is a slaugther house. The animal foul smell and crying noices can be detected and heard clearly while we were sketching. Apart from those, the place is very quiet.

I can’t believe it too! May i know where is this place?
March 10, 2016 at 14:59
It is near pioneer rd (the industrial site). But along sungai buroh. Under the flyover bridge. If I am not mistaken, its near the Mercedes benz storage. If you can find the pig slaughter house then that is the right place.

I didn’t know there is a sungai buroh?! I couldn’t find it on google map, only found Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Looks like a very interesting place. Your painting is getting better and better. I hope to persevere like you.

Oh, I am really sorry. It is jalan buroh at jurong warehouse complex. Thank you for your compliment. But I am nothing like that at all. But if you keep doing it daily, you get use to it. May I know where you staying? West area?

Thanks for info! We don’t have a car so it’s harder for us to get to far out places. We are staying in Ang Mo Kio. I guess you’re staying near the Chinese Garden right?
March 10, 2016 at 15:49
Yes, i am staying at Chinese garden. Our teacher drove us to that jalan buroh. He goes sketching weekly. Either in China town or nearby area.

That’s so wonderful! My art mentor has eye problems, so can’t do any plein air painting. I wanted to try plein air on my own this year, but now with my own blurry vision, i have to avoid the sun. Do take care of your eyes too.

Thank you very much. I don’t usually go out to sketch. Just starting for a few times now. I am an indoor person. Cant go under the sun too long, will get headache. Have you seen eye doctor?
March 10, 2016 at 16:08
I didn’t realised that i was exposed to too much UV light and reflection, even at home, from the opposite blocks. The eye doctor advised me to review in six months time. Meanwhile, i am still trying to adapt and paint small, but not so detailed. My daughter says my style of painting has changed!

I love to see your paintings. There are better and better. 😊 As we get older, we should take care every part of our bodies. I am having trouble paint at night now. I guess the study room’s light is not bright enough. And have been looking for that big magnifying glass with light that can be attached to the desk.

Sorry, was preparing to cook while answering you.
I should thank you for encouraging me in my painting!
I agree, we need to take care. Now, i have to be extra cautious about straining my eyesight. I hope you will find your magnifying glass soon.

Thank you. Take care.
