There is another kind of Chinese painting called Lingnan school Chinese painting. A new movement started at the half of 20^th century to replace court painting. It was founded by a couple of Chinese painters who went abroad to study art and came back inventing the lingnan style. The fusion of western, Chinese  and Japanese realism painting becomes what we know as Lingnan school style. The heavy use of white and bright colors and also wet on wet style creates that dreamy look of Chinese painting.

I have been looking at youtube channel on how to paint the lingnan style painting for quite sometimes. This is what came out of my second try to emulate the master artist from youtube. It was painted on 70 cm x 70 cm rice paper . A link below will bring you to how they paint that dreamy beautiful lotus.
